I love boys!

I have so many people ask me (even strangers at the store) if I am upset that I have all boys, or if I am going to try again for a girl. I really don't know how to respond to them without going into a lot of detail or being rude. Usually I just try and say that I am so happy with my three sons and I would actually prefer to have another boy if we had more kids, but sometimes I just rudely say "no" and keep walking. It really bothers me when people assume that having sons is a bad thing or that not having a daughter would make any mother sad. I treasure the three, healthy boys that God has given me, and obviously God thinks I must be a good "boy mom" because that is what he has chosen to give me. I thank God every day for the 3 precious gifts that he has given to us!

Children Are A Gift From God
by Sandra Tolson

God sent me three packages
That needed special care
"Take care of these tiny gifts
For they are very rare."

"Watch over them with all your love
And let them feel your touch
Take care of their every need
For you are needed very much."

"These gifts will grow up very fast
As you soon will see
Love them with all your heart
And let them be what they will be."

"When these gifts have fully grown
Look at Heaven up above
Know they exist because of God
And all his precious love."

Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.
Psalm 127:3-5 (New International Version)

Boo at the Zoo and a carnival

We got to have some really fun family time this weekend doing a couple of different Halloween things. First we went to Boo at the Zoo in the morning. The boys love any excuse to put on their costumes and get lots of candy. Brayden dressed up as Buzz Lightyear, Logan as Bob the Builder and Preston as Tigger. They weren't as interested in looking at the animals as they usually are, but we did get to see some of the animals close up and being more active as usual, which was neat.

Preston got tired towards the end of the zoo and ended up falling asleep.

After the zoo, we came home for a quick lunch and then went to a carnival at a church close to our house. The boys got to play little games and jump in the bouncy castle. Brayden even won some yummy cupcakes in the cake walk!

After the carnival, we came home and crashed, all except Brayden -- I don't know where he gets all his energy from. The boys had a great time and it was nice to do something as a family that was out of the ordinary!

Lullaby....

Lately Preston has wanted to snuggle and rock a little before bed. I love this time with him, as all too soon he will be too "big" for this cuddle time. I wrap his small blanket around him, rock him and sing him several songs. Every time I end a song and don't start the next one soon enough, I feel a small tap on my shoulder or a quiet grunt letting me know he wants me to sing more. And after a few minutes, he does this.......

Cinnamon Apples

This is a great fall recipe that will make your kitchen smell so good while it's cooking!! My boys love it - it barely makes it past one meal in our house!

Cinnamon Apples
6-8 apples, peeled and sliced
1-1/2 Tbsp cinnamon
1/2 Tbsp nutmeg
1 cup water
Place apples in crockpot. Sprinkle with nutmeg and cinnamon. Add water. Cover and cook on low for 6-9 hours.

Fall Festival

We went to a fall festival last night at Brayden's school. It was a lot of fun and the boys really enjoyed it. It was put on by the PTA and they did a really good job. There was a hayride, which we just happened to take as the sun was setting. The boys really thought it was funny when the two horses relieved themselves all over the sidewalk after our ride! Brayden and Logan got to decorate pumpkins and a frame with Halloween and fall stickers and markers. There was also a place for the boys to dress up as cowboys and get their picture taken, but we won't see how those turned out for a few days until they get mailed to us!

By far I think their favorite part, however, was dancing. They had a DJ, disco ball, bubbles and lights set up in the gym. Logan especially really took to it and is actually a pretty decent dancer for a three-year-old! We don't even know where he got his moves, definitely not from Chris or I. Sorry the quality on this video isn't better, but it is still really cute to see him dance.

Aren't they cute?

Okay, I know I am really partial, but I think they are handsome! They are growing up so fast, I can hardly believe it. My "baby" is already 15 months old.

By the way, those of you with kids know how hard it is to get a halfway decent picture of multiple kids all looking at the camera at the same time. This one took me about 5 minutes (and cookies, if you can tell)!

The Beginning

Okay, here goes! I have been wanting to start a blog for our family for a while now, I just haven't gotten around to it! One of my friends just started one and it looks so great and so easy, so I decided to try it. I am going to do my best to update this blog often, so please check back. And I am new to the blogging world, so if you have any comments or suggestions, they are welcome here! Thanks for reading!
