Drive-in movie night

For AWANA last week, they had a drive-in movie night, where you made your own car out of a cardboard box and then took it to church and sat in it while you watched a movie and ate popcorn. Brayden was very excited and his car turned out really good!
He made a red Jeep. He was so sweet when it was done to let his brothers sit in it first and share with them.

Ashten - 1 month

Can you believe it? 1 month? Where has the time gone?

We love having Ashten in our family, and making the transition to four hasn't been difficult at all. The hardest thing is that I hardly get much sleep at all. She is starting to sleep longer stretches some nights, but other nights she is up most of the night, sleeping only an hour or two at a time and wanting to nurse and be held a lot. Those nights (and the following day) are hard, but we're making it through. Hopefully not too much longer where she'll be sleeping more regularly at night.

And then there were 4....

Having a 4th child hasn't changed my life too much. Besides the normal newborn adjustment stuff, things are pretty much the same around here, just with another child. Well, I shouldn't say they're the same -- I seem to have NO time for anything. I spend my days sitting on the couch and nursing, rocking Ashten and holding her till she's asleep enough to lay down - not at all a bad job if you ask me. In the in-between times, I have to get everything else done and spend time with the boys. But we are having a blast with our 4th, I'm so glad we made the decision to have one more. She is so precious - I can't believe she'll be a month old next week!

Matchy matchy

Have you ever had those days when you get all your kids dressed and then look at them and realize they are all matching? That happened to me the other day. I was even matching too, although I didn't get in on the picture.

It was really nice weather last week -- we're talking close to 80!!! Chris took the boys outside to help wash his truck. They had a blast!

Lovin' on their sister

The boys are such good, doting brothers to Ashten. They all show her love in their own unique ways, but each one of them is totally protective of and sweet to her.

Brayden doesn't usually stop and hang out with Ashten much, but when he does, he is very sweet and gentle with her. He worries when she starts to cry and doesn't really know what to do with her, but he is very protective and takes it seriously when I ask him to watch her for a second or sit still so he doesn't accidentally hurt her.
Logan loves to hold her, give her kisses and touch her. He is definitely the most hands-on with her, but he is very gentle and never too rough. The other day I was trying to sweep up the floor real quick and Logan was holding her. She started to cry but I was almost done, so he patted her tummy and talked to her to try and calm her down. He did a pretty good job and was proud when Ashten stopped crying for a minute! Preston loves being a big brother and although he isn't always really gentle, he definitely means well. He gives her lots of kisses and likes to share toys with her. He is also a big helper to me, bringing me diapers and blankets and being quiet when she's asleep.

Because He lives...

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride, and joy {she} gives;
But greater still the calm assurance,
This child can face uncertain days because he lives

Because He lives I can face tomorrow;
Because He lives all fear is gone;
Because I know he holds the future,
And life is worth the living just because He lives.

Ashten - 2 weeks

Ashten is a really good baby! She's a great nurser and can sleep through almost anything - good thing with 3 older brothers who aren't the most quiet things in the world. She isn't the best sleeper at night, but she's getting better. I think she gets lonely without all the noise and activity. It is very tiring, but Chris has been on Spring Break and is helping out with the boys a ton so I can sleep in or just rest and relax during the day. But I'm still hoping she changes her schedule soon!
